2023 Dodge Hornet: Welcome to the Dodge Family

Dodge is a popular American automaker that has been delivering performance-oriented muscle cars for over a century. This year, the brand came up with an all-new model. The 2023 Dodge Hornet is the brand’s first-ever crossover SUV that features a wide variety of available powertrain options, including an available Plug-in Hybrid version. It has an MSRP starting at just $31,590, making it an easily affordable Dodge to get all your tasks accomplished in a muscular way. The Hornet packs a plethora of standard and available cutting-edge technology features to provide an elevated driving experience.

Powertrain Options

The Hornet comes in two different trim levels; GT and R/T PHEV. The Hornet GT is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine to produce 265 hp. The GT model is an automatic transmission with all wheel drive and the ability to accelerate to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds.

The Hornet R/T Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) comes with a 1.3-liter 4-cylinder engine that combines with an electric motor to generate 285 hp. The R/T model is only a 6-speed automatic with AWD compared to the GT’s 9-speed automatic.

The GT model, estimated to get 21 mpg city and 29 mpg highway, provides adequate driving range. Although Dodge hasn’t released exact estimates for the R/T PHEV model, it is expected to be more efficient than its counterpart. The Dodge Hornet R/T comes with a 12.0-kWh battery that is good for over 30 miles of electric driving per full charge. Also to note , R/T models must use a level-2 charger that takes around 2.5 hours to complete a full charge. A similar model to the Hornet is another Stellantis vehicle, the Alfa Romeo Tonale.
